Original Press Release:

New Valturn(TM) VP1510 High Performance Coated Carbide Grade Machines Cast Irons at Higher Speeds

Ultra smooth coating surface on insert reduces build-up on edge and prevents chipping.

Carbide insert manufacturers continue to develop better carbide substrates to combine with advanced coatings to improve the cutting performance in specific materials. Recently, Valenite introduced a new cast iron grade with a multi-layer MTCVD coating that significantly enhances the ability to machine gray, nodular, malleable and compacted graphite cast irons as well as powdered metals. Field tests have shown significant tool life improvement when machining engine, transmission, drive train and brake system components.

The new coated carbide grade is designated ValTURN(TM) VP 1510. It features a tough and deformation resistant substrate with a highly heat and wear resistant MTCVD TiCN/Al203 coating. After coating, the insert is polished to produce a very smooth surface that aids in maintaining cutting edge integrity and part surface finish by reducing built-up edge and chipping. VP 1510 is designed for both roughing, semi-finish and finishing applications.

Inserts are available in six new top form geometries and 67 insert styles for a wide range of applications.
