The New GC4005 Makes High-Speed Roughing in Steel a Reality

Fairlawn, NJ, March 24, 2003 - Sandvik Coromant introduces a true productivity booster for medium to rough turning in steel - grade GC4005 with a wiper geometry. Primarily developed for high-speed operations in steels, this new grade also works well in hardened steels and nodular cast iron. Finally, long passes and dry machining are possible due to the thick alumina coating of GC4005. The wiper geometry further expands functionality by allowing the feed to be increased.

Grade GC4005's coating and gradient substrate provide both high-speed capability and toughness. The grade performs particularly well in stable, high speed, dry operations where predictable tool life is essential.

Designed specifically for the automotive and ball bearing industries, the GC4005 extends the well known 4000 series of grades and is available in different negative T-Max P insert geometries.
