Insert Honing System provides accurate edge preparations.

Press Release Summary:

Model IXM-50 hones edges on all conventional cutting tool materials and geometries including threading and grooving tools, milling inserts, dog bones, form tools, and symmetric geometries like diamonds, squares, and triangles. System can produce edge hones of different sizes on separate edges of same tool. Software in system's CNC control manages all critical process variables.

Conicity Technologies Offers Its IXM-50 Insert Honing System

Reduces Production Costs by Improving Part Quality & Performance

CRESCO, PENNSYLVANIA - Conicity Technologies, LLC, the world leader in cutting edge preparation technology, announces the IXM-50 edge honing system, designed to provide highly accurate edge preparations on all conventional cutting tool materials and geometries, including: Threading and Grooving Tools; Milling Inserts; Dog Bones; Form Tools; and symmetric geometries like diamonds, squares and triangles. Because of its small size, flexibility, and quick set-up, the IXM-50 is able to reduce production costs, improve part quality and shorten lead times.

A key feature of the system is its ability to intentionally produce edge hones of different sizes on separate edges of the same tool. Other honing processes cannot do this. Potential applications for variable edge preparation are grooving tools, thread chasers, and other tools where the chip load changes significantly along the cutting edge.

Additionally, the IXM-50 can produce edge preparations with great precision. For example, to correctly and uniformly apply a 0.0005" hone on all of a tool's cutting edges, the process parameters must be controlled to such a degree that material removal automatically stops when the desired hone size is achieved. This is accomplished by the software in the system's CNC control which manages all of the critical process variables.
