Sandvik Coromant Introduces GC1010 Insert Grade for Milling Hardened Steels
Fair Lawn, New Jersey, July 3, 2008 - Sandvik Coromant's new GC1010 insert grade was designed to provide a productive cutting solution when milling hardened steel. With capabilities ranging from roughing to finishing, GC1010 was developed in response to growing demand from the die and mold industry.
The GC1010 grade excels in roughing to finishing of tool steels, ISO-H hardened steels and ISO-P steels. The new insert can also be used to boost productivity in the finishing of ISO-K cast irons.
To provide the toughness and wear resistance necessary to maximize performance in hardened steel, GC1010 features a thin PVD coating combined with a fine-grained hard substrate. This increases metal removal rates, boosts tool life and provides sustained surface finish and tight tolerances during long cutting cycles.
The GC1010 grade can be combined with multiple cutting solutions from Sandvik Coromant, including the CoroMill 300 and CoroMill 210 lines.
