INRIX Real-Time Traffic Now Available on over 75 Navigation and Mobile Devices

Latest software platform release further enhances traffic accuracy and ease of integration

KIRKLAND, Wash., July 30 /-- INRIX, the leading provider of traffic flow information, today announced its real-time traffic is available on over 75 models of portable and automotive navigation devices, mobile phones and smartphones in the U.S. With the broadest market coverage of real-time traffic flow information available -- over 94 U.S. metropolitan markets and 50,000 miles of roads as well as 12 markets and 5,000 miles of roads available in the U.K. -- device OEM's and application providers are increasingly selecting INRIX traffic for integration across their navigation and traffic applications.

INRIX continues to evolve and enhance its core traffic services platform to enable the most accurate real-time and predictive traffic data across the broadest coverage. With the company's latest platform release, INRIX Traffic Fusion Engine version 3.0, INRIX focused on key enhancements in accuracy and in improving the flexibility for its OEM customers to integrate real-time incident information for congestion avoidance.

The Traffic Fusion Engine is now leveraging huge increases in density from the INRIX Smart Dust Network, which aggregates traffic-related data from more than 250 public and private sources including traditional road sensors and the world's largest network of GPS-probe vehicles. This allows reporting of traffic with greater spatial granularity, significantly improving the 'out-of- the-window' experience for end-users, while maintaining extremely high accuracy for routing and estimated time of arrival (ETA). Navigation applications will immediately benefit from increased accuracy of speed information on specific road segments for routing. Additionally, the platform update includes enhanced alerting of severe congestion and intelligent incident filtering, highlighting the traffic impact of real-time incidents.

"Market demand for traffic-enabled applications is building on the significant market growth in the portable and auto navigation device markets, the emergence of the offboard navigation market, and the availability for the first time of nationwide traffic speed data," said INRIX CEO, Bryan Mistele. "In just one year, we've grown the maximum available coverage of real-time traffic flow information in the U.S. from 36 markets to 94 and 8,000 miles to 55,000. Correspondingly, the overall number of traffic-capable navigation device models in the U.S. and the penetration rate have more than tripled."
