Original Press Release:

New from Diagraph® A Quantum Leap In Small Character Ink Jet Performance

St. Louis, MO...Diagraph is proud to announce the immediate availability of the LINX 6800, a new small character continuous ink jet system that establishes new industry standards for performance and convenience. It retains the best attributes of previous LINX printers and introduces new features for unmatched printing precision, reliability, message formats and integration flexibility.

The LINX 6800 incorporates a new user interface, which provides an icon-based operating environment that makes fast work of set-ups for printing applications. The two-level interface utilizes the familiar LINX "positive feel" QWERTY keypad for data entry accuracy, and now it also includes a one-quarter size black-on-white VGA screen for easy viewing in all lighting conditions. The new graphical user interface features easy-to-use "hot keys" and screen icons that allow operators to select messages quickly, while simultaneously making more complex printer functions available to technicians via pop-up windows and pull-down menus. A new power-down switch automatically turns off the power when the LINX 6800 completes its cleaning and shutdown routines, so the printer is always ready for perfect start-ups. The keyboard and display menus are designed for international use.

The new LINX 6800 printhead design with integral temperature sensors optimizes printing precision and reliability. Ink droplet consistency, and thus print quality, is significantly improved because of a shorter flight path and tighter control of jet speed. Two printheads are available: the ULTIMA for high-speed two-line applications, and the MIDI for jobs that require up to four lines.

The advanced LINX 6800 printheads also come with powerful new printer control software incorporating new message formats (rasters) that deliver maximum print speed, print quality, and number of print lines. The software offers a wide range of character heights and message formats (up to 34 drops high) including text, barcodes and graphics. For extra convenience, a message designer automatically selects the optimum message format for the line speed.

To assure reliable performance in harsh industrial conditions, including dusty and wash-down environments, the portable LINX 6800 features a new IP65-rated stainless steel printer enclosure. The simple lines of the LINX printer make it easy to keep clean, while the ergonomic design of the user interface helps operators feel comfortable.

For maximum production line versatility, the LINX 6800 is engineered for easy integration with other systems such as PCs and production controls. The 6800 software facilitates communication and networking; RS232, RS485, and parallel I/O are all supported. Expansion slots permit easy addition of plug-in hardware.
