Ink Jet Printing Controller features communications protocol.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for printing 4-5 lines of text, graphics/logos, and bar codes from 3/32 to 5 in. high for industrial and packaging applications, I-MARK(TM) V84i ink jet printing controller can drive 1-4 print heads, a total of 32 valves, at line speeds up to 786 fpm. Drop-on-Demand (DOD) controller also handles up to 4 independent print photocell/triggers, enabling machine builders to print different messages in different parts of the line or on 4 sides of same product or package.

Matthews New I-MARK(TM) V84i OEM Ink Jet Controller for Machine Builders/Systems Integrators

Features Easy Communications Protocol and Longer-Life DOD Valve Printheads

Pittsburgh, PA, August 3, 2008 - Matthews Marking Products announces the availability of the I-MARK(TM) V84i, an OEM version of the company's newest Drop-on-Demand (DOD) ink jet printing controller. This printing controller can be incorporated into machinery used for packaging and food processing, automotive manufacturing, material handling/conveying, steel forming, wood processing, and converting. The new system will be shown at PMMI's Pack Expo International 2008 in Matthews booth, S-#2647.

Thanks to a simplified communications protocol, integrating the new OEM printing controller requires minimal software development. "This also means that machine builders can use the same touchscreen interfaces, power supplies, PLCs and other hardware with the V84i as they use with their base machine, which helps keep overall costs down," points out Donna Meade, Matthews DOD printing Product Manager.

Ideal for printing 4-5 lines of text, graphics/logos, and bar codes from 3/32 in. (2.38mm) to 5 in. (127mm) high for industrial and packaging applications, the new V84i controller can drive from one to four printheads, a total of 32 valves, at line speeds up to 786 fpm. Among the printheads that the new controller can handle are Matthews' new low ink-consumption, high-resolution 8000 Series DOD printheads, which last five times longer than other DOD printheads and operate faster than any DOD printheads in the industry.

The controller also handles up to four independent print photocell/triggers, enabling machine builders to print a different message in different parts of the line or on four sides of the same product or package.

Several V84i controllers may be networked together in a highly structured printing system throughout a facility, with each controller driving multiple printheads on each production line. The controllers may be independently addressed and communicate with each other.
