Infrax Systems (IFXY) Announces Enhancement to Smart Grid Security Portfolio

Smartdec Security Sensors Will Provide Utilities with Enhanced Surveillance for Remote Facilities

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - INFRAX SYSTEMS, Inc. (OTC BB: IFXY - News), a global provider of unified Smart Grid-related products and services for the Energy and Utility industries, and Defendec, a leading provider of military grade surveillance systems, announced today that they had entered into a distribution agreement for the North American utility market. The Smartdec meets the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards mandated by the National Electric Reliability Council (NERC) for perimeter intrusion protection and security.

The Smartdec System provides a cost effective solution for securing critical infrastructure assets. The battery-powered wireless system detects intruders on the perimeter of remote sites and helps to prevent vandalism, terrorism attacks, thefts, and accidents. While currently deployed by NATO countries for border security, Infrax will be deploying Smartdec to secure and monitor substations, high-voltage transmission lines, nuclear facilities and other major infrastructure sites where access monitoring is critical and manned security is impractical.

"This agreement with Infrax provides Defendec with a valued partner for the North American utility market and we look forward to a long relationship securing the critical assets of their customers," says Defendec's CEO, Jaanus Tamm. "The need for security is global and Defendec's Smartdec product is designed to provide unparalleled security capabilities."

Smartdec uses small, battery powered, and intelligent wireless sensors to monitor the environment and to take a picture of possible threats. Each wireless detector is equipped with a high resolution camera for daytime surveillance and an infrared camera for nighttime security. Sensors in the Detector register and respond to a wide array of parameters including movement, humidity, and temperature. The system is active only when movement is registered or when it sends a routine check message, prolonging battery life.

"The Smartdec solution, including the robust Command Center software, is the perfect complement to Infrax's Secure Intelligent Energy Platform. When deployed in conjunction with our other security products, utilities will be able to completely secure and control access to remote facilities," said Paul Aiello, Infrax CEO. "We are pleased to be Defendec's North American partner".

Infrax will be demonstrating the Smartdec solution at the upcoming Utilities Telecommunications Council (UTC) Region 3 conference in South Carolina.

About INFRAX Systems

Infrax Systems offers a series of interrelated operational management, communications, and grid security related products and services known as Secure Intelligent Energy Platform (SIEP). Our products enable a comprehensive and unified solution for communications and applications management of the Smart Grid. SIEP(TM) incorporates a wide array of communications, security, device and data management tools for Smart Grid applications such as advanced metering solutions and grid optimization. SIEP platform creates a unified solution to securely manage Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and distribution automation. Infrax's secure smart grid platform, incorporates a communications transport and management system, (Grid Mesh(TM)), device and data security management, and ultimately secures intelligent endpoint devices (SIED). The secure management of the "last mile" backhaul will be necessary for utilities to implement Smart Grid applications including AMI, real-time pricing, Demand Side Management (DSM), Distribution Monitoring and Automation.
