Space-Ray Expands Line of Low-Intensity Infrared Tube Heaters with the Addition of 15 More Units

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Space-Ray of Charlotte, N.C. said that it has expanded its line of unitized low-intensity gas-fired infrared tube heaters with the addition of 15 heaters with more than 80 configurations.

The new heaters enhance Space-Ray's capability of custom designing a radiant heating system that meets precise facility requirements for optimum flexibility and economy and maximum energy efficiency. The heaters complement Space-Ray's current line of 17 LTS Series and 17 LTU Series Low-Intensity Infrared Tube Heaters and gives Space-Ray among the broadest and most complete lines of tube heaters in the industry.

Available in both natural and propane gas, the new ETS/ETU Series Low-Intensity Infrared Tube Heaters range in capacity from 40,000 to 175,000 Btu/hr and have unique features not found on many competitive units. Both heaters can be used with 5 or 10 ft. body assemblies. System lengths vary from 15 to 50 ft., depending on the model selected.

The ETS Series Tube Heaters are available in multiple configurations including straight, L-Shape, Expanded U-Shape or Z-Shape and are ideal to meet complete building heating requirements. For added versatility, 90° elbows corner reflectors and side reflectors are available for close mounting near walls, doors and corners. In contrast, the ETU Series Tube Heaters come in four different U-Shape configurations ranging from 20 to 50 ft. and are ideal for spot and area heating applications.

Systems can be common vented for ease of installation or individually direct vented, whichever is preferred for through-the-roof or sidewall venting. Sidewall vent capability is up to 75 ft. versus the normal 15 ft. in most competitive units. A diaphragm air switch on the burner system provides proof of venting before gas flow and ignition.

Applications for the new ETS/ETU Series Heaters include use in manufacturing plants, warehouses, auto dealerships, aircraft hangers, loading docks, welding shops, truck or auto service areas, fire stations, greenhouses, gymnasiums, garages, machine shops, tennis courts, maintenance shops and farm structures.

"Space-Ray now offers tube heaters ranging from 40,000 Btu/hr to 175,000 Btu/hr in capacity which gives us the most complete product line in our more than 40 years of manufacturing in the industrial heating market," noted Bob Genisol, Space-Ray Vice-President of Sales. "The new line also effectively compliments our LTU/LTS Series Infrared Tube Heaters, ceramic heaters and radiant floor model heaters."

Easy to assemble, the new ETS/ETU heaters feature a totally enclosed heavy-duty pull-through draft inducer which pulls products of combustion through the heavy-duty calorized aluminized steel combustion chamber for increased radiant efficiency, more uniform tube temperature and greater safety.

The draft inducer is permanently lubricated and fan-cooled. A heavy-duty ball bearing motor also assures maintenance-free operation. For flexibility, the draft inducer can be rotated 45° or 90° for sidewall venting by simply moving the assembly. The combustion chamber is also totally enclosed and does not have draft hoods.

ETS/ETU Tube Heaters Detailed
Both the ETS/ETU Tube Heaters come with state-of-the-art step opening redundant combination gas valve also provides for quieter ignition and enhanced safety. Safety is also enhanced by the closed combustion chamber design and direct spark ignition with 100% gas shut off safety control and 30-second pre-purge prior to ignition. A burner inspection sight glass allows easy monitoring of the burner system.

In contaminated atmospheres or high humidity areas, optional outside air for combustion can be supplied with a standard 6-in. round fresh air duct. Units are C.G.A. certified for up to a 50-ft. outside combustion air duct.

The rugged one-piece cast-iron burner with stainless steel flame retainer comes with a 10-year limited warranty and the emitter tubes with a three-year limited warranty.

Space-Ray has manufactured gas-fired infrared heating systems since 1958. Like other Space-Ray heaters, the new heaters offer fuel economy and radiant efficiencies unsurpassed by competitive systems. Annual fuel savings of as much as 50 percent compared to forced-air heating have been achieved by Space-Ray tube heaters. Some Space-Ray customers report fuel savings as high as 70 percent with a payback of less than one year.

The unique, unitized design allows lower installation costs, simpler re-arrangement within the facility and less maintenance. By not being dependent on other heaters in the system, Space-Ray's radiant heaters can also be thermostatically controlled, individually or in groups, for greater operating control of heating requirements.

Unlike forced-air heating which works from the top down, radiant gas heat works from the bottom up, warming people, floors, and machines first for optimum comfort.

The first U.S. manufacturer to design unitized tube heaters, Space-Ray has over 40 years of field experience and exposure to industrial heating problems with some heaters still providing trouble-free maintenance after 40 years of service.

Besides the ETS/ETU low-intensity radiant tube heaters, Space-Ray also offers a complete line of 15 LTU low-intensity U-tube heaters, 15 LTS low-intensity heaters, a complete line of ceramic heaters and radiant floor model heaters. The company is also the only radiant heating manufacturer which offers an exclusive computerized heat loss analysis free of charge to qualified plant managers, contractors, and building owners.
