New Fluke 68IS Infrared Thermometer Approved as Intrinsically Safe Device
Rugged, reliable and high-performance features for maintenance professionals in hazardous environments
EVERETT, Wash. - Fluke, a world leader in test and measurement products and services, announces the Fluke 68IS Infrared Thermometer, a non-contact thermometer specifically designed for reliability and added user safety when measuring surface temperature in potentially explosive or flammable environments. It has received Factory Mutual (FM) approval as an intrinsically safe device.*
Maintenance professionals in industries including petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil exploration and refining, hazardous waste and other hostile environments can deploy the Fluke 68IS under conditions requiring use of intrinsically safe devices: those designed to limit the release of sufficient thermal or electrical energy to cause ignition of a specified flammable gas or vapor-in-air mixture under normal operation and environmental conditions.
With a temperature range of -25 to 1400 °F (-32 to 760 °C), the Fluke 68IS can support spot measurement, temperature differential and scanning techniques to monitor surface temperature, helping to locate potential blockages or malfunctioning systems for improved equipment performance. It holds and logs temperature measurements to memory, displays minimum, maximum and average measurements, and has an adjustable emissivity setting.
The Fluke 68IS features a backlit display for use in poorly lit areas and enhanced optical performance with a distance-to-spot ratio of 50-to-1, enabling users to measure smaller objects from greater distances. Designed for rugged use, it has rubber overmolding, a sealed battery compartment and a durable hard plastic storage case.
The Fluke 68IS joins the Fluke 707Ex Loop Calibrator, 718Ex Pressure Calibrator and 725Ex Multifunction calibrator in the company's growing line of intrinsically safe products. The Fluke 68IS Infrared Thermometer is now available from Fluke representatives in the US. It includes a Resistance Temperature Device (RTD) probe, 9 V alkaline battery, storage case, and user manual, for a suggested US list price of $725.
