FLIR Adds New Features to Its Top-of-the-Line ThermaCAM® P60 Infrared Camera

Industry-leading P60 now even better with innovative LED lighting option, AVI burst file format, and other user convenience features

N. Billerica, MA (February 20, 2004)-The latest model of the professional-grade, high-resolution FLIR ThermaCAM P60 offers a spectrum of new, time-saving features. The P60 is the first lightweight portable instrument to record onboard both infrared radiometric and visible digital images, and enable the user to link them to each other. The top-of-the-line P60 also introduced
the concept of a removable remote control handle and LCD screen, the ability to record both audio and text notes in the field, and is supported with a wide range of optics and accessories.

According to Thomas Scanlon, Director of Americas Thermography Products, "New improvements to the P60 ensure its position as the highest performing camera in our ThermaCAM line and the number one choice for professional thermographers. It is the only IR camera that incorporates all the requirements of an infrared inspection program in one system, delivering an economical and powerful predictive maintenance solution. With over 30 years of demonstrated condition monitoring successes in predictive maintenance, the value of an IR inspection program is immense, yielding unsurpassed maintenance savings and a rapid return on investment. In fact, many users report immediate payback on their ThermaCAM IR camera purchases."

Now available for the P60 is an automatic, bright LED accessory light to facilitate visible light photography. The small accessory light plugs into the camera's USB port and comes on
automatically when the operator selects visible light photography under less than ideal lighting conditions.

In many industrial settings one P60 is shared by several users, who typically need a unique combination of camera settings for their particular requirements. Sometimes these settings can
be quite extensive and time-consuming to configure. The new P60 allows multiple users to stores their configuration profiles on the camera, and to access their profiles with the push of a
control button.

The P60's unique capability to capture high-speed phenomena with burst-mode recording has made it a favorite of process development and research and development professionals. Burst-
mode sequences can now be recorded in world-standard AVI format for convenient playback in a variety of standard media players, including Microsoft® PowerPoint®, Windows® Media Player,
RealPlayer(TM), and QuickTime® in addition to the radiometric file format that enables thermal analysis.

New ThermaCAM QuickView software, included with the P60, enables users to instantly generate one-page reports in PDF format. In addition, QuickView enables users to view images,
and download them from the camera to PC via USB cable. Another new convenience is the image gallery feature, which opens with several frames, facilitating recognition of sequences.

With the new ThermaCAM P60, thermographers can more quickly and easily than ever before determine the relative severity of problems and make informed decisions about the true operating condition of electrical and mechanical systems and processes. The innovative, palm-sized P60 is the first automated infrared inspection system that works in concert with reporting and database software to fully automate the process of collecting, reporting and archiving infrared images and inspection information.

Featuring both thermal and visual imaging, a built-in Laser LocatIR(TM), a detachable carrying handle with integrated remote control and 4" LCD, radiometric JPEG image storage on internal
RAM and removable flash memory cards, enhanced connectivity options, and powerful reporting software, the P60 quickly captures and documents all the data necessary to make cost-effective maintenance decisions.

The P60 weighs only 3.5 pounds with battery and allows hours of comfortable in-field operation with a choice of viewing options to meet diverse inspection requirements. Operators can view
real-time (60 Hz) images on the detachable combined LCD-control handle. The handle can be removed, enabling the user to conveniently view and control the camera while positioning the
camera itself to see hard-to-reach areas. In addition, a built-in color high-resolution viewfinder provides optimal viewing for outdoor use.

A state-of-the-art fourth generation uncooled microbolometer IR detector delivers crisp, high-resolution longwave images, exceptional thermal sensitivity of 0.06°C and ultra-precise temperature measurements. Its 320 X 240 active elements allow users to see electrical and mechanical problems with stunning clarity and accuracy.

Documenting IR survey results is automatic. All relevant inspection data and images with can be downloaded either from the camera's internal memory or removable FLASH card to a PC quickly using a USB digital link or RS232 standard serial connection. Coupled with ThermaCAM® Reporter(TM) and Database(TM) software, all survey data stored inside the P60 image file(s) and can be automatically downloaded into professional inspection reports and organized in a database eliminating the time-consuming, manual tasks often associated with IR reporting.
