Info Security Products Guide Names MA120 W Winner of the 2007 Global Excellence in Biometrics Award

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-- May 02, 2007
Sagem Morpho, Inc. announced today that Info Security Products Guide, the world's leading publication on security-related products and technologies, has named the MorphoAccess120 W PIV (MA120 W PIV) winner of the 2007 Global Product Excellence in Biometrics as well as Security Solution for Federal Customer Trust Award. These customer trust awards attest to the fact that the MA120 W is at the forefront when it comes to products that can provide the highest security in biometrics, particularly for the Federal Customer.

More than 18,000 end-users and prospective customers worldwide were invited to vote for the products that they trust the most when it comes to protecting their digital resources. Sagem Morpho's twice winning product is listed at: www.infosecurityproductsguide.com/products/index.html

The MA120 W is the only biometric smart card reader to pass the GSA approved product requirements for the FIPS 201 Contactless CHUID Reader category. See fips201ep.cio.gov/apl.php for the GSA Approved Product List. This intelligent biometric access control terminal supports the FIPS 201 PIV card and has optional Match-On-Card capability. The strength of the MA120 W processing is the ability to parse and verify the integrity of the CHUID data elements, to validate they have been digitally signed by an authorized source, and to determine the card's expiration date.

"This 'smart' terminal used in conjunction with a bridge wraps an intelligent authentication layer around the legacy PACS, making it compliant with FIPS 201," said James Conniff, Director of Access Control Solutions at Sagem Morpho, Inc. "The bridge, acting as a translator, takes the 200+ bit CHUID that has been processed and verified by the smart terminal and transforms it into the corresponding wiegand signal acceptable to the legacy PACS. This phased implementation approach using 'smart' terminals allows agencies to keep their Legacy Physical Access Control System (PACS)."

"The Federal Government faces the challenge of securing its facilities according to the HSPD-12 mandate," said Rake Narang, managing editor of Info Security Products Guide. "Users of these winning products deal with real threats that can differ vastly from lab simulated environments. These customer votes confirm user confidence for the products that best meet their needs; validating the MA120W as the essential biometric access control terminal for the Federal customer."
