Infiana Receives AIMCAL Award for its FlexPLAS® Release Film
Infiana has received the 2016 Technology of the Year Award for its FlexPLAS® product, a plasma-coated release film developed and distributed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM). FlexPLAS® plays a decisive role in the manufacture of large and complex fiber reinforced plastics for lightweight structures, with its use speeding up the manufacturing process by up to 60 percent. It allows lightweight components for aircraft, wind turbine and automobile manufacture to be detached from their molds without the use of fluid release agents. It was this innovative approach that proved decisive for the expert AIMCAL jury.
AIMCAL is an international network of around 260 members drawn from the film and paper manufacturing industries. Every year it hosts a three-day management meeting marked not just by the giving of awards but by expert presentations, workshops, and in-depth discussion and exchange. Accepting the award on behalf of the Infiana Group, Keith Fedewa, Vice President of Sales at Infiana USA, said, 'This award, and the networking that takes place here at the management meeting, are the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate to our partners, suppliers and customers just how innovative we are, and the rigorous approach we bring to product development.' As well as its involvement with, and recognition by, AIMCAL, Infiana is currently taking advantage of the recovery in the US economy that has been occurring over the last years. As part of its new strategic development, the company has further invested in its Malvern, PA site, where it is currently adding an additional extruder to its facilities.
