Inertial Labs Selected by Intelligent Decisions to Provide High Fidelity Realistic, Human Motion Tracking

With Inertial Labs OSv3 Orientation Module Intelligent Decisions, Inc., to Provide U.S. Army with Virtual Training that Offers a Level of Realism Never Before Achieved by Previous Systems

(Sterling, VA) - Inertial Labs, Inc., today proudly announces its selection by Intelligent Decisions, Inc., under the US Army's Close Combat Tactical Trainer - Dismounted Soldier Training System (CCTT-DSTS) to provide inertial sensors for the tracking of human motions during virtual training exercises. CCTT-DSTS is the first ever, fully immersive virtual simulation training system. This new cutting-edge system will enable soldiers, leaders and units to train in a virtual training environment and will be used by the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation to increase the quality of instruction and combat preparedness. Intelligent Decisions, a premier global IT solutions provider, will spearhead the development and production of the $57 million contract for the training system.

One key element that differentiates this system from any previous virtual trainers is the fidelity of soldier/avatar movement made possible through the use of Inertial Labs OSv3 sensor. "We're extremely pleased to establish this partnership with Intelligent Decisions. Our focus on producing inertial sensors for motion capture, training, and serious games for better performance at a fraction of the size and cost is now part of the world's largest Virtual Reality effort," said Jamie Marraccini, CEO of Inertial Labs, Inc.

Each soldier is represented within the virtual trainer as an avatar. The system enables the soldier to use his body to perform complex motion maneuvers or to communicate with others by using natural arm and hand gestures. The OSv3 sensors, mounted about the body, capture these natural soldier movements in order to control the soldier's avatar within the game engine in real-time.

"The system components provided by Inertial Labs are at the core of our ability to capture and accurately display the actions of soldiers during exercises," said Harry Martin, president and CEO of Intelligent Decisions. "As a result, soldiers will literally operate as they would in the field of battle and see everything in the virtual world just as they would in real life."

The Dismounted Soldier Training System is an innovative, out-of-the-box ready system with a flexible, portable and transportable design that can be installed in a fixed or mobile facility in under four hours. The system reduces the traditional expenses associated with large instruction facilities where travel and location
maintenance are required. In addition, the Dismounted Soldier Training System meets the latest in training needs of today's leaders and their soldiers by increasing productivity and shortening conventional content and scenario development time.
