Fully Integrated Industrial PC for Tough Factory Environments

The new Katana 150 is especially well suited to modern, demanding factory floor IT applications.

Post Falls, Monday, September 01, 2003:
Captec, a leading European Industrial PC manufacturer, has introduced its new Katana 150, a fully integrated, rugged industrial PC, into the United States. The Katana is specifically designed to withstand the tough factory floor environment, making it ideal for those IT, factory floor, and automation applications where conventional PCs are unsuitable and/or are unable to cope, and, as a result, have a limited lifespan. Featuring a powerful Pentium III processor, an integral high brightness LCD display, and a stylish membrane keyboard and integral mouse pad, the Katana is ideally suited to both IT and automation applications.

The most striking feature of the KAT-150, the latest Katana model, is its high brightness 15" LCD TFT display, which incorporates the very latest in smart LCD panel technologies, and is protected from impact by a toughened 3mm clear Polycarbonate window. An anti-glare surface further enhances visibility by reducing reflections from background lighting. A fully sealed, membrane keyboard provides all the PC keyboard functions in a compact, but elegant, standard QWERTY layout, that has a long term reliability of over 10 million key presses. Integral with the keyboard is the latest in Glidepoint mouse technology, offering a sensitive and highly effective mouse pad for effortless navigation.

The Katana's horsepower is provided by a low power VIA Pentium III compatible processor, capable of running all Windows (98, ME, NT, 2000 & XP) and Linux operating Systems. The hard disk drive is mounted in a patented anti-vibration/shock cradle. A multitude of connectivity ports are provided standard, including 10/100MB Ethernet, dual USB, parallel and serial Ports, and, should additional functionality be required, a PCI Expansion slot is provided.
