Original Press Release:

Xycom Automation is pleased to announce the launch of the new 1506 Industrial 'Node' PC.

Saline, MI - November 21, 2002 - Xycom Automation, Inc., a subsidiary of Pro-face America, Inc. and a market leader in Industrial PCs, announces the release of the 1506 Industrial "node" computer. The 1506, is a compact, high-performance computer without integrated display which compliments the recently released 3612T.

The 1506 represents the next offering in a new generation of products that will easily replace the very successful industrial PCs currently offered by Xycom. Features such as an external drive bay, superior video performance, added expansion, easily removable single and dual hard drives, and externally accessible CompactFlash(TM) make this product unique and ideal for many applications where a separate display and computer are desired. The 1506 replaces the current 1503 model at a significantly lower price. This lower price includes a faster CPU, CD-ROM, and floppy, whereas these were optional items in the past. Work is already nearing completion for a similar version with full-length expansion card capabilities. This new "node" PC product allows the use of industrial flat panel monitors without having to qualify an additional CPU for those customers that are currently using the new 3612T integrated solutions.

The 1506 unit comes standard with a Intel® Celeron® 850 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, 20GB Hard drive, and standard CD-ROM and floppy which provides more than enough power and flexibility for the most demanding factory automation applications. Optionally, the 1506 is available with a choice of Intel® Pentium® III 1.0 and 1.26 GHz processors, and DRAM options up to 512 MB. With onboard 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, USB port, parallel port, two serial ports, and PS/2 keyboard/mouse port, the 1506 is well-suited for use with virtually any standard PC compatible device. The 1506 provides expansion capabilities of up to three ¾-length and one ½-length PCI and ISA cards. An externally accessible Type I or II CompactFlash site or remote drive bay option is also available. All this power, connectivity, and expansion is contained in a package that is 9.25 inches (H) x 11.4 inches (W) and only 5.5 inches deep.

"The 1506 is the next installment of our new family of products which are packed with features while maintaining very competitive costs," said Ralph Damato, Business Unit Manager, Industrial PC Products for Xycom Automation. "The 1506 coupled with one of our industrial flat panel monitors now gives the customer the choice of integrated or split architecture without having to qualify different computers," continues Damato.

The 1506 carries the European CE mark and includes UL and cUL agency approvals. It is also approved for Class I & Class II, Division 2 Hazardous Locations. It can operate in 0°C to 50°C environments without additional cooling, and can be purchased with MS-DOS®, Windows® 98, Windows NT®, or Windows® 2000 (multi-language) preloaded and configured to make setup a breeze.
