Cummins To Launch A Series Engines From 19 HP To 60 HP; Engine Size Ranges From 0.9 Liter To 2.3 Liters

LAS VEGAS (March 19, 2002) - Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CUM) today unveiled at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002 the company's new A Series engines for the industrial markets, available from 18 to 60 horsepower (hp), and from 0.9 to 2.3 liters displacement. "Cummins can now power equipment with engines ranging from 18 to 3500 hp - and from 0.9 to 78 liters," said Mark Yragui, vice president - industrial business at Cummins. "With the launch of these new smaller engines, Cummins can offer more OEMs the convenience and financial benefit of dealing with a single-source engine supplier." The A Series includes optional features to make equipment integration in a wide variety of applications easy. With features like dual hydraulic pump mounts, crank-mounted PTO, a variety of drivetrain mounting configurations, one-side serviceability, integrated cold-start aids, a low-noise signature and structural capability, the Cummins A Series engines are specifically designed to maximize equipment performance. The A Series lineup includes three engine families with a total of six different hp ratings and torque curves. A2000/A2300 (45-60 hp) The naturally aspirated A2000 and A2300 engines offer big power in a small cost-efficient package. When needed, the turbocharged version of the A2300 provides an even higher power-to-weight ratio. A1400/A1700 (31-37 hp) The A1400 and A1700 are capable of generating high power in a very short footprint. Utilizing the same block, power cylinder technology and feature content as their four-cylinder counterparts, these Cummins A Series three-cylinder engines provide an ideal fit for space-constrained applications. A900 (18 hp) The A900 is a three-cylinder design that delivers diesel dependability and durability with reduced maintenance. This 0.9 liter diesel features lower operating costs, higher equipment resale value and many times the life span of any gasoline engine, making it perfect for high-load, high-utilization applications. Plus, all A Series engines are fully backed by Cummins comprehensive two-year/ 2,000-hour warranty. Major components are covered out to three years/3,000 hours.
