Two New Wireless Features Added to Glacier's Rugged GX Line of Computers
Glacier Computer, a leading developer of versatile and powerful industrial computer systems for harsh environments, announces that two new wireless features have been designed into its new GX-1200 and GX-1500 rugged industrial computers, including an enhanced 802.11 wireless Ethernet component and an integrated Bluetooth module.
Glacier has designed the GX motherboards with 32 bit bus architecture, which allows for 802.11 A, B, and G radio styles. A and G radios, rated at 54 Mbps, allow for much greater wireless data throughput. "Our customers are beginning to show interest in faster radios as they try to push more data to the far reaches of the facility. As far as forklift-mounted computers go, the GX surpasses all competitive products with this ability," states John Geary, Vice President of Sales for Glacier.
To meet customers' growing demands, Glacier now also offers the GX line with an optional Bluetooth module, which will co-exist with the integrated 802.11 radios. Bluetooth is a short-range wireless radio standard for communication between computers and peripherals including printers, scanners and more. Bluetooth printers from Zebra and Bluetooth bar code scanners from Symbol will communicate with the GX units and eliminate the need for wires and cables.
The GX 1200 and GX 1500 are the latest additions to the Glacier Computer line of industrial fixed-mount and forklift-mounted rugged computers. Glacier units are PC-compatible devices capable of running all Windows® operating systems and are commonly used in freight, manufacturing, and distribution environments.
