Allen-Bradley VersaView Industrial Computer from Rockwell Automation Maximizes Reliability with New Solid-State Technology

Fanless design reduces downtime while multiple mounting options improve end user flexibility

MILWAUKEE, June 14, 2007 - The Allen-Bradley VersaView 200R industrial computer from Rockwell Automation maintains its popular 50° C rating, while maximizing reliability with a new fanless design. The 200R is the ideal solution for applications where low power consumption, ruggedness, small size and expandability are needed, such as in oil and gas, food and mining applications.

"We were able to move to a fanless design by upgrading our industrial computers with a low wattage 1 GHz Pentium M Celeron processor and a 24/7 continuous duty hard disk drive," said Paul Vondrak, VersaView marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. "Choosing this 'mission critical' solid-state drive means this computer is completely free of moving parts, which can significantly improve uptime." The Allen-Bradley VersaView 200R non-display, heavy industrial computer provides the functionality and performance necessary to run visual interface, maintenance and control applications. Combining the 200R computer with a VersaView industrial monitor creates an integrated, compact way to view drawings, modify ladder logic and review manuals.

"As part of the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture, the VersaView line of industrial computers and monitors are available in a wide range of hardware and software configurations, platforms and sizes to suit a range of applications," said Vondrak. "The modularity we've designed into this line greatly reduces equipment, training and development costs."

Comprised of a suite of scalable HMI software and a scalable family of operator interface hardware, Rockwell Automation visualization solutions provide plant floor machine operators, supervisors, engineers and business managers with a window to critical data, and production and process information. These solutions increase productivity and reduce total cost of ownership by providing customers with solutions that can be quickly configured, enabling easier access to information to make crucial, real-time, business decisions.

The VersaView 200R features up to 1 Gigibyte of RAM, four USB 2.0 ports, two 10/100M Ethernet ports, and is available in both AC and DC versions. Mounting options include panel, DIN rail and ability to vesa-mount on the back of a VersaView Industrial Monitor.
