ONE FOR THE OTHER HALF OF THE MARKET

January 24, 2008, New Milford, CT- Glacier Computer, a leading designer, developer and supplier of rugged industrial computers announces the Ridgeline CE to its line of harsh environment hardware. This versatile machine is an extremely rugged, small form factor industrial computer. The Ridgeline CE is Glacier's first Windows CE platform joining a group of established Windows XP and XP Embedded devices. The Ridgeline CE is also unique in that its small housing allows for mounting in locations not serviced by traditional 10" and 12" units. The Ridgeline CE is the perfect answer to the market's desire for a small rugged unit that can be fork lift mounted. Cutting edge technologies, smart ideas and intelligent design make it easy to adapt exactly to your specification. Due to is extraordinary compact design, this unit can be ergonomically installed in even the smallest space so that it does not disturb the mobile worker.

The Ridgeline CE has a 5.75" high bright color LCD display, touchscreen, IP 65 sealed enclosure, solid-state drive, and programmable function buttons. The five large soft keys are flexibly programmed with functions that correspond to the relevant working process. The illuminated keypad (backlight) allows operators to work in poor ambient light. The crystal-clear VGA display (640 x 480) reduces eyestrain and allows for fast and non-tiring operation. Integrated 802.11 b/g radio and an internal DC power converter allow for mounting in an array of vehicles.

Four LEDs indicate the respective operating condition of the unit and facilitate the diagnosis of errors. The interfaces are protected against moisture by a flap which is equipped with a proven pull relief to protect the cabling against damage caused by rough usage. Software applications are easily loaded and take advantage of the VGA display choices as well as portrait and landscape modes. "The Ridgeline CE meets the demands of customers running terminal emulation, intranet, and HTML applications," states Don Berch, Sales Manager of Glacier Computer. "While full screen XP devices are often more than users need, this CE unit is a low cost, durable, data collection device," says Berch.
