BI Technologies Extends its Toroid Terminator(TM) Family of Self-Shielding High-Current High-Temperature Inductors
Fullerton, Calif. (May 3, 2005) - Providing design engineers with a mechanically robust and space-saving alternative to conventional iron powder toroidal inductors in high temperature applications, TT Electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Component Division has developed a self-shielding molded inductor design that reduces acoustic noise level, delivers up to 40A rated current, and is specified for operation to +155ºC. Designated the HM55A Series, the inductors are the latest addition to BI's family of "Toroid Terminator(TM)" high current inductors.
According to David Smolik, sales and marketing manager for BI Magnetic Components Division, the new molded package design gives the inductor superior performance at an economical cost. "The HM55A Series, like our other "Toroid Terminator" inductors, provides design engineers with a device that exhibits low core losses, tight tolerances for DC resistance and inductance values, and high temperature operation to +155ºC," said Smolik.
"The HM55A Series inductors are ideal as replacement for conventional bulky toroids in applications that require more efficient inductors with smaller board footprints and lower profiles," he continued.
The HM55A Series terminators are ideal in multiple phase synchronous step-down voltage regulator modules, motherboards for laptops and desktop computers, and for general-purpose inductor applications.
Two case sizes are available. 0.406" x 0.254" x 0.228" (16mm x 10mm x 9mm); and 0.406" x 0.254" x 0.292 (16mm x 10mm x 11.5mm).
The HM55A Series inductors feature inductance values from 0.28µH up to 2µH (measured @ 100KHz, 0Adc), with tolerance to ±10%. They are rated for 40Adc current, with a maximum temperature rise of 50ºC. DC Resistance is 0.72mΩ (±5%)
Pricing for the MH55A Series inductors starts at $0.28 each in volume quantities, with lead times from 8 to 10 weeks.
