Original Press Release:

Seresco Adds 90 to 140-Ton Indoor Pool Dehumidifier Sizes to its Protocol NP-Series

New 25-percent factory expansion paves way for a 40-percent increase in large size dehumidifier orders from consulting engineers and contractors.

Seresco USA Inc., Decatur, Ga., a leading manufacturer of HVAC indoor air quality equipment, has expanded its Protocol NP-Series line of indoor swimming pool dehumidifiers to accommodate sizes of 90 to 140-ton units, the largest capacity the HVAC industry currently offers.

A recent 25-percent capacity expansion to Seresco's Ottawa, Ontario-based manufacturing factory helped facilitate an additional production line and satisfy a 40-percent increased demand for the newly-cataloged item. Large units economically offer end-users substantial savings on first-costs and installation labor/materials versus two or three units totaling the same tonnage. Protocol units typically come as rooftop package units and the new sizes now offer airflows of up to 65,000-cfms.

Since large systems are sometimes challenging to rig into mechanical rooms as one-piece units, especially in retrofit instances, Seresco also offers a built-up service where a unit is delivered in pieces and factory technicians oversee the project mechanical contractor's on-site assembly.

Seresco had previously custom-built large units, however now 90 to 140-ton systems are catalog selections, which offers customers more competitive pricing and shorter production times. For eight years, Seresco has provided custom-built units for projects such as the Walter Baker Sports Centre, Ottawa; the 46,000-square-foot Kingsport Aquatic Center, Kingsport, Tenn.; and the 60,000-square-foot Pearlgate Recreation Multiplex, St. John's, Newfoundland.

The Protocol Series is ideal for a large one-piece configuration, because it substitutes hundreds of pounds of vapor compression refrigerants commonly used in traditional natatorium dehumidifiers with propylene glycol, Glycol is up to 95-percent less expensive than refrigerants and is an environmentally-preferred heat transfer fluid for LEED® and other sustainable building projects. The refrigerant reduction, which can surpass 800-pounds of refrigerant in the largest units, does not affect performance because Seresco's proprietary heat rejection design makes the Protocol NP-Series equally efficient as DX systems on summer design days and five to seven-percent more efficient throughout the rest of the year.

The Protocol Series also includes the WebSentry® system, the world's only web browser-based software/hardware application that's onboard all Seresco commercial dehumidifiers and allows 24/7 real-time data transmission and extranet access. WebSentry sends more than 100 operating parameters every minute from any dehumidifier's onboard CommandCenter™  microprocessor  controller to Seresco's factory-based server center for daily remote viewing, tracking and adjusting by factory technicians.
