Incremental Encoder offers immunity against magnetic fields.

Press Release Summary:

Consisting of microcoil sensor and linear or rotational target, Incremental Encoder Kit offers speeds up to 50 m/s, resolution below 1 µm, and airgap up to 1 mm. Various output formats are available, including A quad B, analog ratiometric, or PWM. Resistant against liquids and mechanical impact, targets consist of single-sided PCB with one copper layer covered by solder mask. Rotational targets with different diameters and linear targets up to 300 mm are available.

High Resolution, High Accuracy and High Immunity Against Magnetic Fields

POSIC introduces a new incremental encoder kit

Markham, Ontario; November 3, 2008 - POSIC has today announced the introduction of a new incremental encoder kit consisting of a microcoil sensor and a linear or rotational target.

The microcoil inductive sensor works like linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) or a resolver and has the same advantages: high resolution, high accuracy and high immunity against magnetic fields and electromagnetic perturbations.

The target consists of a PCB with copper patterns. The eddy currents created in the copper patterns modulate the coupling between the primary and secondary windings of the microcoil sensor. These targets are simple and low-cost single-sided PCB with one copper layer covered by a solder mask, and thus resistant against liquids and mechanical impact. Rotational targets with different diameters and linear targets up to 300mm are available from stock.

Factory programming allows an optimal sensor-configuration for varying applications: high-speed (up to 50 m/s), high-resolution (below 1um) or wide airgap (up to 1mm). Different output formats are available: A quad B, Analog Ratiometric or PWM.

About POSIC S.A.

POSIC S.A. is a privately-owned company, specializing in microcoil inductive position sensors. The company is headquartered in Neuch¢tel, Switzerland and was founded in April 2001 as a spin-off from CSEM (Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology). A solution provider for position sensing in mechatronics and motion control applications, the company develops, produces and sells inductive position sensors based on their proprietary technology.

POSIC's position-sensing products are all based on the "coil on chip" technology. This patent-protected technology enables the fabrication of the world's smallest coil structures for inductive sensing. It puts POSIC in the position to deliver the smallest and most accurately defined sensor coils.
