Increased Efficiency in Intralogistics and Production

Huntersville, May 19, 2008 - Companies interested in increasing the efficiency of their intralogistics and production operations rely on Montrac, a transportation system made by the Swiss company Montech AG. At ATX East in New York (June 3 to 5) Montrac will be able to be seen in action at Booth 3029.

Intralogistics and production processes are generally optimized down to the final second. No product should have to wait anywhere in the process. The processing steps are highly standardized sequences aimed at optimizing the cycle time and reducing costs. But there is often even more potential for optimization.

Transporting free of impact and vibration

The self-propelled shuttles are supplied with a maximum power of 3A at 24 VDC. They travel at a speed of 30 m/min on monorails over tracs, curves with minimal radii of 280 mm, switches and junctions to all processing stations. The shuttles communicate with the route by means of an infrared system- without external control, which reduces costs.

Montrac can also transport highly sensitive products free of impact and vibration, because each shuttle has an integrated optical sensor that detects obstacles and gently reduces the speed of the shuttle.

Electrically driven components

The switches and junctions are operated electrically. That eliminates pneumatic components and the associated connections. Since power is fed directly through the conductor rails, the system requires little or no cabling.

Electrical components for automation

Also for automation and handling components Montech is betting on electrification. The latest news in the product range includes the electric versions of grippers, universal slides and rotary drives. Through electrification, all these components have become more flexible. The rotary drive, for instance, can move into 31 different positions, traveling at different speeds between one position and another. As to electric grippers, the gripping strength and speed can be adjusted independently.

More detailed information are available on the Web site www.montech.com or by calling 704.655.6400. Visitors attending ATX East will find Montech at Booth 3029.

The parts are conveyed by the shuttles on monorails consisting of straight sections, curves, switches and crossings, reaching all processing stations.
