New Autobag In-line Printing System Offers 2-sided Printing with High Resolution
STREETSBORO, OH - July 12, 2004 - Automated Packaging Systems, the world leader in high-reliability packaging systems, introduces the new Autobag® PI 412cw Prism(TM) high speed printer for 2-sided printing of bags in-line with the company's Autobag bagging systems. This programmable thermal-transfer printer will imprint on two locations of the bag at speeds up to 12 inches per second, or 80 bags per minute.
Text, graphics and barcodes can be easily applied to individual packages in-line, on the bag front and back, then indexed for product loading and sealing for an efficient Print-n-Pack operation. The "Prism" printer supports bag widths from 2 inches to 16 inches and is ideal for retail applications that require artwork and content description on the front of the bag with barcode information on the back.
Label graphics, font styles, and barcode information may be conveniently stored in system memory for fast retrieval and instant job changeovers. Simply call up pre-stored label designs or access any database through the PC network connection, which supports serial and parallel ports, including USB, Ethernet and AS-400. The Prism is designed to meet all the newest industry-specific printing requirements including 2D barcodes, UPS MaxiCode, and true-type fonts.
This high-speed in-line system will interface with AutoLabel(TM) software or existing customer software, effectively replacing the need for a separate labeling operation. Print quality is exceptional at 300 DPI (8" per second) or 203 DPI (12" per second).
The Prism system includes Festoon control, an Autobag exclusive, which allows the printer to run continuously and independent of the bagger, for high-speed print registration. Target Registration Control ensures positioning accuracy of +/- 1/16 inch and is adjustable while the printer is running. An innovative pivoting design provides easy access to the print head for cleaning and maintenance.
