Impulse Point Announces Enhanced 802.1x Support for Safe.Connect(TM)

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 7 / -- RSA Conference -- Impulse Point, the leading network access control solution provider for large enterprise networks, announced today the availability of an innovative 802.1x Service Module Offering (SMO). Safe.Connect(TM) SMO will allow customers to implement 802.1x technology in a phased approach, as budget and resources allow.

"Enterprise customers need NAC today, but are faced with the daunting task of upgrading their network or conforming to proprietary switch manipulation of their core infrastructure in order to realize the benefits of network access control", commented David Robinson, CEO, Impulse Point. "Our Safe.Connect(TM) SMO will offer our clients the ability to realize the value of an enterprise NAC solution today, while delivering 802.1x technologies on their terms and on their time schedules."

Safe.Connect is an open network access control (OpenNAC) solution that addresses the need to easily integrate into diverse heterogeneous vendor environments by delivering a network switch independent alternative to isolate non-compliant endpoint devices at Layer2. The inherent scalability advantages of Safe.Connect's distributed policy management architecture enables large organizations to address their NAC enterprise requirements with minimum hardware components and management overhead.

"802.1x is not a product, it's an industry standard framework that is unique for each organization based on their desired infrastructure, endpoint security philosophies, and budget", says Max Garcia, CSO, Impulse Point. "Our Safe.Connect(TM) 802.1x SMO will deliver a unique NAC offering that will provide our customers the flexibility to deploy multiple quarantine methods within their enterprise-at the router, switch, or endpoint device."

The Safe.Connect 802.1x Service Module Offering (SMO) will deliver turnkey professional services support and guidance to Impulse Point customers who desire to implement or expand their 802.1x infrastructure in combination with the Safe.Connect NAC system. This NAC industry first will combine the unique benefits of the Safe.Connect system with customer accepted 802.1x industry standard components to deliver the benefits of network access control today and provide a roadmap for future 802.1x deployment.
