Stanley Proto Expands Its Line of Deep Thin Wall Impact Sockets
New sockets make it easier to work in tight spaces
Designers and engineers are constantly adding complexity to vehicles, aircraft, and other machines without adding bulk or weight. As they cram more into a given space, one result is that fasteners become harder to reach. Stanley Proto has responded with an expanded line of Deep Thin Wall Impact Sockets. The new sockets are available in a variety of metric sizes for 3/8 inch drives. The company has also expanded its range of nut end sizes in its 3/8 inch drive fractional and ½ inch drive fractional and metric deep think wall impact socket lines.
The new sockets' extra length (they're 2 to 3.5-inches long) and reduced thickness means they are suited to fit into awkward or tight spaces. That makes them ideal for hard-to-reach fasteners that require low impact force.
Each socket features the Stanley® Proto® TorquePlus(TM) design, in which the socket's curved points contact the fastener away from its corners, and spread the force of turning over a larger area of the fastener. This allows 15 percent more torque to be applied than with a conventional socket of the same dimensions. Less force is needed to turn a fastener to a specified tightness, which in turn helps prevent the applied force from rounding off the corners of the fastener. This feature also extends the life of the socket.
All sockets feature one through-hole and a groove to accept a retaining ring along with a pin to secure the socket to a power tool anvil. Stanley® Proto® Deep Thin Wall Impact Sockets also feature chamfered service ends that provide quick and solid fastener engagement.
