Imaging Station detects wide variety of labels.

Press Release Summary:

Kodak Image Station 1000 offers thermoelectrically cooled CCD technology. CCD pixel density of 1024 x 1024 and 10x optical zoom produces high resolution (20 micron/pixel at full zoom) as well as 16- and 32-bit image acquisition, which provide linearity of response over wide dynamic range for accurate intensity measurements. ID Image Analysis Software controls Image Station 1000, and provides easy-to-use capture and analysis capabilities.

PERKINELMER LIFE SCIENCES AWARDED EXCLUSIVE WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTOR RIGHTS FOR KODAK IMAGE STATION 1000

Proprietary Technology Allows Ultra-Sensitive Imaging for Biological Research Applications

BOSTON-March 5, 2002-PerkinElmer Life Sciences, a leading provider of drug discovery, life science research and genetic disease screening solutions, today announced that it is now the
exclusive worldwide distributor of the new Kodak Image Station 1000, used for high-performance imaging of chemiluminescent, fluorescent and chromogenic labels.

As a result of this partnership, PerkinElmer Life Sciences' customers will benefit from improved image results and increased efficiency. The Kodak Image Station 1000 provides sensitivity that rivals film for most chemiluminescence applications, providing publication quality images in less time than traditional autoradiography. It can produce images with significantly wider linear dynamic range (>4.5 orders of magnitude), enabling users to capture and produce precise
intensity measurements of very bright and faint signals in a single image. The Image Station also gives customers the ability to detect a wide variety of labels and sample types with a single
instrument.

"PerkinElmer Life Sciences is very proud of its long-standing relationship with Kodak and to exclusively distribute the Kodak Image Station 1000," said John J. Engel, executive vice president of PerkinElmer, Inc. and president of PerkinElmer Life Sciences. "This product offers our customers the latest in imaging technology, and presents a tremendous benefit in terms of a single instrument for multiple applications. PerkinElmer Life Sciences remains committed to our customers to provide a single source of information, technology, and a wide range of
products for all disciplines."

The Kodak Image Station 1000 offers advanced, proprietary electronics and thermoelectrically cooled CCD technology, which produces low noise and high sensitivity, allowing for long
exposure times. The Image Station's CCD pixel density of 1024 x 1024 and 10x optical zoom produces high resolution (20 micron/pixel at full zoom) as well as 16- and 32-bit image
acquisition, which provide excellent linearity of response over a wide dynamic range for accurate intensity measurements. Kodak's award-winning ID Image Analysis Software controls the Image Station 1000, and provides powerful, easy-to-use capture and analysis capabilities.
