DALSA Adds GigE Vision(TM) -Compliant Model to Spyder 3 Camera Family

WATERLOO, ONTARIO - March 3, 2008 - DALSA Corporation [TSX: DSA], a global leader in machine vision technology, today announced the availability of a GigE Vision(TM)-compliant version of its successful Spyder 3 camera. The Spyder 3 product family uses DALSA's patented dual line scan sensor technology that provides better responsivity, ease of use, and cost-effective solutions for many applications. Since its release, the Spyder 3 camera has become one of the most successful imaging products in the marketplace. It has been designed into applications such as flat panel display inspection, postal sorting, wood and steel inspection, food inspection, web inspection, and many others.
GigE Vision is a camera interface standard that allows fast image transfer over the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol. "The Spyder GigE Vision-compliant camera demonstrates DALSA's commitment to develop a standard GigE platform for the machine vision industry. DALSA's Spyder 3 line scan camera surpasses its predecessor, the Spyder 2, with three times more responsivity and twice the speed, without impacting noise levels. The camera's responsivity is particularly important in low lighting situations. The Spyder 3 offers 1k and 2k resolution with a 14x14 um pixel size. The camera has a maximum line rate of 68 kHz and throughput of 80 Mpixels/s. Customers can have their choice of either GigE Vision-compliant or CameraLink interface.
