IM+ for Skype Software: BlackBerry, Palm, Symbian, Java Phones, What's Next?

STUTTGART, Germany, June 19 -- SHAPE Services announced today the availability of three beta versions of IM+ for Skype Software for Java phones, Symbian S60 and Palm OS. These beta versions are intended for people, who want to make cheap mobile calls within Skype ecosystem and to landline numbers. Since Java version of the application works on all Java-enabled phones including smartphones with Symbian OS, Skype on mobile is now available for hundreds of millions users worldwide. SHAPE welcomes everyone to participate in a beta round and experience Skype features on the new platforms.

IM+ for Skype Software lets the users "experience a new era in the AlwaysOn world" as noted by Jim Courtney, Skype Journal's editor and a big fan of Skype.

Released in May, IM+ for Skype Software for BlackBerry handhelds brought a possibility of Skype communication through SkypeOut to the mobile environment. IM+ for Skype Software uses SkypeOut credits for voice communication ensuring cost-effective calls to any number around the globe. For users of Skype Unlimited and Skype Pro plans IM+ enables almost free calling from the mobile device to any PC with Skype or any landline/mobile number. A callback feature allows to forget about roaming fees. Additionally, users may chat and conduct call conferences with a number of contacts.

The final versions of IM+ for Skype Software for Palm OS, Java and Symbian phones are expected to be released till the end of June. In the coming months SHAPE Services is going to release IM+ for Skype versions for Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone, enabling Skype communications on mobile in any network and without WiFi.
