NKK Switches' Announces World's First Ultra-Miniature, Fully Illuminated Toggle Switches
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 7, 2003) - NKK Switches enhances its illuminated product offerings with the G series, the world's first ultra-miniature, fully illuminated toggle switches.
The process-compatible, toggle actuated G series toggle switch offers engineers the most functional and aesthetically pleasing option for designing hand-held and front panel user-interfaced devices. The G series' light weight makes it the optimal choice for applications ranging from video cameras, audio/broadcast equipment and electrical guitars to medical equipment.
Available in red, green, amber and bicolor red/green LEDs, the G series toggle actuator is made of clear polyamide that allows the LED color to fully illuminate the entire actuator. This feature ensures a bright, jeweled appearance and highly visible status indication.
Ultra-miniature in size, the switch measures only .276 inches in height and width and .177 inches in depth. The illuminated toggle actuator measures .150 inches. The G series' standard .100 X .100 PC terminal spacing enables high-density mounting and is available in straight PC, vertical or right angle mount. The round design of the G series facilitates through-hole mounting on PC boards.
The G series features molded-in, epoxy-sealed terminals that lock out flux, solvents and other contaminants. In addition, the tightly-sealed construction of the G series body prevents contact contamination and allows automated soldering and washing processes. The single pole double throw circuits on the G series include ON-ON and ON-OFF-ON maintained circuit. In addition, NKK Switches' award-winning STC contact mechanism guarantees a smooth, positive detent actuation, increased contact stability and unequalled logic-level switching reliability. The STC contact mechanism self-cleans with every actuation.
The G series is rated at 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum, which ensures the suitability of these switches in low voltage, low current, logic-level circuits. Due to their light weight and rating, the G toggles have not been tested for UL Recognition or CSA Certification. When used as intended, in a logic-level circuit, the results do not produce any hazardous energy. Both mechanical and electrical lives are rated at 100,000 operations minimum.
