NKK Switches Introduces Brighter LEDs as New Standard

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 20, 2003) - NKK Switches, a leading manufacturer of illuminated switches, enhances its line of illuminated pushbuttons with brighter LEDs. Designed for use in the YB, LB and KB series, the improved, cost-effective LEDs offer a significantly brighter light source and greater energy efficiency.

Engineers can specify single-element LEDs with or without built-in resistors. The LEDs with built-in resistors are available in 5V, 12V and 24V ratings. Built-in resistors provide an easier design and require less assembly on the part of the engineer.

Available in red, amber or green, the brighter LEDs enable engineers to design aesthetically pleasing panel displays. These new standard LEDs allow light to radiate further and illuminate the full face of the pushbutton cover.

Faced with the challenge of preventing accidental actuation, engineers can specify the YB, LB and KB series with protective guards in many shapes as well as a new, spring-loaded version for added security. Various models feature PC adapters in single-pole or double-pole configurations, with straight-PC or right-angle mount for single-pole options. For protection against harsh environments, dust and splash covers are offered for all configurations.

Each of NKK's new LEDs are rated with an ambient temperature range of -25aC to 50CC, making them suitable for the majority of applications using LED illuminated pushbuttons.

The YB, LB and KB series of illuminated pushbuttons are UL Recognized and CSA Certified.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches.
