EAO Offers New Options for the Visually Impaired with Blue Illuminated Keypad



EAO, the expert partner for Human Machine Interfaces has delighted engineers designing keypads into applications for disabled users by offering a new option of bright blue key illumination, generated from high quality LEDs. This is now available in EAO's highly popular S.series keypad range.

Visual impairments, which often include the inability to distinguish between the colors red and green, can result in problems for users operating keypad driven devices. EAO's easy to read, blue illuminated S.series keypad is also available with a 'blind pin locator' found on key 5, and optional raised characters including "o" and "x".

EAO also offers full keypad customization services including solutions for full color front plate designs as well as laser engraving and marking. The visually impaired may also benefit from a dedicated font option specifically designed to aid legibility.

Part Number S.12X21.331 is currently available with either 12 or 16 keys, and in a choice of standard, telephone, or hexi-decimal II configurations, EAO's S.series keypads feature a front plate and anti-pull-off keys constructed from Zamak that deliver a high level of vandal-resistance. The S.series is tested to 4 million operations and is protected to IP67.
