Comprehensive Solution Qualified by a Major North American Carrier
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA - September 25, 2007 - Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading developer and provider of Fiber Fast(TM) broadband solutions, today announced that Gemtek Technology Co. Ltd., an original design manufacturer (ODM) based in Taiwan, is now shipping a full featured triple play residential gateway that uses Ikanos' VDSL2 CPE and Fusiv® processor silicon and residential gateway software suite. Gemtek's WVDK-105G is being offered to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide and has been qualified by a major North American carrier.

The Fusiv Vx gateway processors use Ikanos' distributed architecture to offload switching, routing and firewall functions to on-chip Accelerator Processors. This unique architecture enables wire speed performance across all local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) interfaces. By offloading these tasks from the host central processing unit (CPU), the majority of the Fusiv Vx host CPU processing power is available for Gemtek's applications. The highly integrated processor provides an unparalleled integration of full chain voice processing, signaling and network protocol processing on a single chip for the development of triple play gateways.
Ikanos' residential gateway software suite is a comprehensive, feature-rich solution for triple play residential gateways. The combination of Ikanos' software and Fusiv processors offers ODMs, like Gemtek, a means for quickly developing multiple products, such as security gateways, VDSL2 triple play and ADSL2+ gateways, and routers.
Ikanos' Linux-based residential gateway software suite includes:
o Fast path code using Accelerator Processors for wire-speed packet processing across LAN and WAN interfaces;
o Fast path code for WLAN packet processing;
o Clean application programming interface (API) for making use of Accelerator Processors;
o Linux kernel including networking stack;
o Complete voice chain support of various codecs;
o Fax over IP (T.38);
o Voice framework with a well-defined API for ease of integration;
o Flow-based quality of service (QoS) framework to ensure priority for rich media traffic; and
o Peripheral drivers.
