IIJ Adds Mailbox Feature to IIJ Secure MX Service

Full outsourcing of vital email system functions dramatically reduces total costs

TOKYO-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it will add a new mailbox option to the integrated corporate email security functions of the IIJ Secure MX Service starting today.

The IIJ Secure MX Service is an application service provider (ASP) service residing on an IIJ gateway server that is installed between a corporate email system and the Internet, where it provides an array of email security functions, including anti-spam, anti-virus, route encryption, and email auditing and archiving. The new mailbox features provide the following functionalities:

Major Features

Full Email System Outsourcing
In the past, the IIJ Secure MX Service required the customer to maintain their own spool mailbox. With the new mailbox feature, this is no longer necessary, allowing customers to fully outsource their corporate email system.

In addition, an IIJ email engineer monitors and operates the gateway system and mailbox functions 24 hours a day all year long, and this dramatically reduces the burden of system administration and operating costs for the customer. The security features of the IIJ Secure MX Service can also be used in tandem to create an even more stable and secure email environment.

Integrating All Corporate Email Administration
Companies maintaining email systems on multiple domains or a mix of on-site and hosted email systems can take advantage of the mailbox feature of the IIJ Secure MX Service to integrate the administration of their corporate email environment. Additionally, the security features of the IIJ Secure MX Service can be used to monitor and archive internal email and perform other functions that are necessary for the administration of corporate security policies and increasing control of IT systems.

Total Cost Reduction
Full mailbox outsourcing reduces operating costs and eliminates hardware and software asset risks, greatly reducing the total cost of email system ownership. Cost effectiveness can also be improved by using the mailbox features to combine and integrate email systems.

IIJ will continue to develop the IIJ Secure MX Service to provide our customers with a convenient and safe email environment.
