igus® to Showcase Motion Plastic Solutions at Pack Expo 2013

Under the theme “Motion Plastics”, igus will display new solutions for the packaging industry at this year’s Pack Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 23 - 25, 2013.

East Providence, RI -- Food, packaging and bottling industries are centered on handling sensitive products that demand special requirements: maximum levels of hygiene are needed, alongside precision and speed at an affordable price point. To meet the demands of the industries, igus® endeavors to offer solutions which fulfill these requirements optimizing machinery for a longer life at less cost. igus® will be exhibiting at Pack Expo 2013, booth S-5552, from September 23 - 25, 2013, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. Products on show will include the company’s new iglide® A181 FDA compliant plastic bearings, PRT 01 slewing ring bearings, System E4-1 and System E2/000 Energy Chains®, as well as new sizes of its DryLin® belt-drive actuators and DryLin linear guides.

Products on display include:

PRT 01 slewing ring bearings: iglide® PRT slewing rings use self-lubricating, low-friction sliding elements in place of ball bearings. They represent a step forward in slewing ring bearing technology. Style 01, offers a rigid aluminum slewing ring with the benefits of self-lubricating iglide® J sliding elements. They are low-cost, high-performance and are completely lubrication- and maintenance-free.

iglide A181 plastic bearings: A181 is a further development of the high-performance iglide A180 material. Lubricant-free, A181 conforms to FDA requirements, as well as EU directive 10/2011. The new bearings permit maximum surface pressure of 3,625 psi (25 MPa). In dry-running applications, maximum rotating speeds of 2.62 ft/s (0.8 m/s) and linear speeds of 11.5 ft/s (3.5 m/s). The permissible maximum temperature for short periods is 230°F (110°C).

System E4-1 Energy Chain: One Energy Chain System for almost any application. System E4-1 combines all the benefits of its three predecessors in the E4 range. E4-1 cable carriers offer greater stability with the same or smaller dimensions while almost all the accessories and mounting brackets are the same. With igus® E4-1 cable carriers, the service life of your application can be increased and costs significantly reduced.

DryLin ZLW belt-drive actuators: DryLin ZLW belt-drive systems are ideal for moving low loads at high speeds, particularly in high-cycle applications. They are corrosion-resistant, lightweight and compact. The Standard series use a white polyurethane steel-reinforced belt, the pulley and the shafts are made of plated steel (stainless optional) and are fitted with 2 deep-groove ball bearings. This version is capable of speeds up to 16.4 ft/s (5 m/s) and loads up to 67 lbs (200N).

The Basic series use a black neoprene glass-reinforced belt; the shafts and pulleys are stainless steel and are square (but with a plastic adapter can be made into 10 mm OD parts); the gear wheel is high performance plastic and is fitted also with 2 deep-groove ball bearings. This version is capable of speeds up to 9.94 ft/s (3 m/s) and loads up to 45 lbs (150N).
