IFS Extends Application Suite with OBAs

'Business Analytics' is the first offering available from Intelligent Desktop initiative

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. and ORLANDO, Fla., June 4 /-- IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announced today at TechEd, the North American launch of its Business Analytics offering, an Office Business Application (OBA) that makes IFS Applications enterprise resource planning (ERP) software accessible to users of the 2007 Microsoft Office system.

Business Analytics is the first deliverable of the IFS Intelligent Desktop initiative. This initiative will integrate IFS Applications with the 2007 Microsoft Office system to make these applications more broadly available to enterprise customers and greatly improve user productivity. By providing secure and traceable integration between Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and IFS Applications, the Business Analytics OBA harnesses the power of Office Excel 2007 as the preferred tool of financial analysts and a familiar tool to managers.

"At GED, our metrics program is a critical part of our business operation," GED Integrated Solutions Business Integration Manager Tony Chalet said. "Business Analytics will mean our metrics program can be run with less hands-on involvement from our information technology staff. Anyone with strong Office Excel 2007 spreadsheet skills will become a power-user of IFS Applications."

"Enterprises of all sizes are encouraging their information workers to be 'power ERP' users," IFS North America President and CEO Cindy Jaudon said. "Our ongoing work with Microsoft on the Intelligent Desktop initiative, in particular, extending our powerful ERP, enterprise asset management (EAM), supply chain management (SCM) and other tools available to more people throughout our customers' organizations as OBAs, gives our customers an advantage over competitors who are operating in more restrictive environments."

"Integration between IFS Applications and the 2007 Microsoft Office system will help our mutual customers increase productivity using the innovative Business Analytics OBA," said Eddie Amos, senior director of Developer and Platform Evangelism at Microsoft Corp. "IFS will be able to implement scalable, flexible and maintainable solutions for real-life business problems."
