SailPoint Introduces 'Collaborative Compliance' Capabilities for Identity Governance

IdentityIQ 4.0 Coordinates IT and Business Team Activities; Streamlines Processes for Improved Security and Corporate Compliance

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 9 -- Gartner IAM Summit -- Identity management deployments have historically been plagued by inefficient, manual business processes that cost money, waste resources and put companies at a greater risk for security vulnerabilities and failed IT audits. To address these challenges, SailPoint announced today the immediate availability of SailPoint IdentityIQ 4.0(TM), featuring new "collaborative compliance" features that give enterprises the ability to model business processes as well as manage individuals and groups responsible for identity governance activities. Collaborative compliance fosters better teamwork across an organization by synchronizing identity business processes with IT controls, helping organizations comply with corporate security policies and industry regulations.

IdentityIQ 4.0 provides a business-friendly environment that makes it easy for business and IT staff to work together to create and customize identity business processes, and then map IT controls to them. An enhanced user interface presents valuable identity intelligence information in understandable business-relevant terms, so business managers can make more accurate decisions when reviewing user access privileges.

"Identity and access management is finally beginning to grow up and bridge some of the gaps between what the enterprise needs and what IT can do for them," said Earl Perkins, a research vice president at Gartner, Inc. "In governance, risk and compliance management, for example, strong access controls coupled with access request, approval and review processes are needed by the business to enable them to fully realize value from their policies, guidelines and practices. This is particularly the case for managing risk. Those IAM solutions that provide the business bridge between IAM and GRC management staff will play a significant role in enterprise access needs of the future."

IdentityIQ 4.0 is the only identity governance solution to combine business process management and group collaboration tools using business context, which fosters increased participation by business users in key identity governance processes. New features in IdentityIQ 4.0 include:

-- Business Process Modeler: a graphical tool that automates and simplifies the modeling of identity business processes. The modeler enables business and IT workers to collaborate on designing and improving core identity governance processes, such as access requests, change approvals and role lifecycle management. Companies can now easily and effectively create a blueprint of their business processes and then map the proper preventive and detective controls to them. -- Workgroup Task Management: an integrated set of collaboration capabilities that allocate and manage tasks performed by groups of workers, while delivering the ability to fully audit individual actions performed. These collaboration tools enable organizations to centrally coordinate and communicate team tasks, flexibly reassign work items across the team to adapt to contingencies (such as workers away from the office), and centrally communicate a team's status to management.

-- Business Context Framework: a set of interrelated features, including an entitlement glossary, embedded tips and contextual help, that guide business users and enable them to be active participants in identity governance efforts. These capabilities expand IdentityIQ's ability to translate complex IT data into business-relevant terms, providing valuable business context to technical identity data and ensuring an intuitive work environment for business users. In addition, the Business Context Framework includes multi-language support for global deployments and supports full customization to reflect an organization's unique business nomenclature.

"Unfortunately, most identity management tools available today require significant amounts of custom coding for workflow and business process management, so very few companies actually model their processes because it's too complicated," said Kevin Cunningham, president and founder of SailPoint. "IdentityIQ 4.0 offers users a simple, yet highly-sophisticated identity business process modeler that makes it easy for IT and business users to visualize, collaborate on and improve identity business processes such as access request, access review, and role lifecycle management."
