DETROIT, Mich, March 25, 2011 - The Ideal Group announces the installation of a new commercial charging station, the first in Southwest Detroit, at the company's Clark Street headquarters. The ChargePoint Network charging station will serve Ideal Group guests and employees, including Ideal Group Founder/ CEO, and Chevy Volt driver, Frank Venegas.
The installation of the charging station at the Ideal Group headquarters marks the latest milestone in Vengas's Volt Experience, which he is chronicling in the blog Frank's V in the D. "The charging station is very easy to use and it's fast," says Venegas. "I was only in the office for a couple of hours and when I left the car was fully charged."
The Coulomb Technologies charging station was purchased through Coulomb distributor Lane Valente. The installation, a joint effort between Lane Valente and Ideal Contracting, began February 28 and was completed the second week in March.
Venegas is a vocal supporter of Detroit, the automotive industry, and the Chevy Volt, which he calls "the feat of the decade." Through Ideal Groups GM Supplier relationship Venegas has had a front row seat to the evolution of this electric car. "I was there when the volt prototype was introduced, there when it was unveiled at the NAIAS in Detroit, and now I am very proud to be one of the first Chevy Volt owners."
The charging station, located in the Ideal Group headquarter parking lot, is just next to a reserve parking space with a sign reading "Reserved for the Big Dog." "If any Volt driver is in Southwest Detroit and needs a charge stop by, we'd be happy to give you a charge," says Venagas.
