ICSA Labs Certifies Secure Virtual Private Network Products

MECHANICSBURG, Pennsylvania, August 1/-- Verizon Business Independent Division Helps Vendors Meet Strict Criteria for Safeguarding Customer Data

ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business, has certified safeguards for four virtual private network (VPN) products that help business and government agencies securely connect workers to corporate resources. ICSA Labs, part of Verizon Business' July 1 acquisition of the former Cybertrust, helps vendors ensure that their products are meeting today's rigorous security standards.

The VPN products earning ICSA Labs Secure Sockets Layer-Transport Layer Security (SSL-TLS) VPN Version 3.0 Certification are: Array Networks SPX Series, F5 Networks FirePass Series Controllers, Juniper Networks Secure Access 2000 and SonicWALL's Aventail EX-2500. The latest version of SSL-TLS criteria requires products to provide some of the highest levels of encryption available today for customer data. This criteria change offers end users greater assurance that their sensitive data is protected.

"ICSA Labs is uniquely positioned to evaluate these products because our certification process is dynamic," said George Japak, managing director, ICSA Labs. "Our testing methodology and evaluation techniques stay current with product enhancements and the ever-changing threat environment."

The ICSA Labs SSL-TLS VPN Certification program is an independent and comprehensive process that rigorously tests, assesses and validates SSL-TLS VPNs in a simulated, real-world environment. Testing criteria are publicly posted for review and comment by industry groups, industry experts and end users, including a consortium of SSL-TLS VPN product vendors.

"F5 is among the first group of vendors to achieve SSL-TLS 3.0 certification," said Ameet Dhillon, director of product management, F5 Networks Inc. "With ICSA Labs' continuous-deployment model and thorough criteria, customers can be sure that certified SSL VPN solutions, such as F5's FirePass, are reliable and secure."

One additional change to the certification criteria requires proper cleanup of sensitive data when a customer's session is abnormally terminated.
This provides added confidence to customers that their sensitive information is being protected.

"ICSA Labs certification for SSL VPNs is one of the most comprehensive of its kind, encompassing security, access and management considerations," said Chris Witeck, director, product marketing, SonicWALL. "It provides a valuable service to buyers during the evaluation process. ICSA Labs has further raised the bar in security setting strict criteria to help safeguard customers'data. SonicWALL relies on ICSA Labs to constantly enhance and evolve our leading secure remote access solution, which brings many benefits to customers of all sizes."

Jim Greenway, vice president, marketing, Array Networks, said, "We are among the first to be successfully certified with the latest version of ICSA Labs' SSL VPN criteria. Earning ICSA Labs' 3.0 certification confirms Array's commitment to meet the stringent security requirements and our goal to be among the best SSL VPN solutions in the market today."

Vaishali Ghiya, senior product line manager, Juniper Networks, said, "Juniper Networks has been actively supporting the efforts of ICSA Labs from the beginning, and our SSL-TLS 3.0 certification is yet another milestone in the long list of ICSA Labs certifications the company has earned across our entire solutions portfolio. Our ongoing work with ICSA Labs helps ensure our customers can deploy a secure, high-performance network infrastructure to power their businesses."
