Communication Interface for Real-Time Ethernet
Hilscher GmbH has now developed the netIC communication interface for simple integration of Real-Time Ethernet end devices for automation technology such as control, a drive, a simple actuator or sensor. This IC module is compatible with the current industry standard and is plugged into an existing IC socket in the device. The module possesses all the required components on a surface area of 45 x 25 mm. With one and the same netIC module, it is possible to accommodate any of two Ethernet connections for Profinet, PowerLINK, Ethernet IP, SERCOS III, EtherCAT, Modbus and TCP/IP. Only software adaptations are necessary. The netIC module is also equipped with an integrated switch, a hub and a 3.3 V power supply.
This development has been made possible by the use of the Hilscher flexible netX network controller. The netX is a highly integrated network controller with a new system architecture optimized for communication and data throughput. Each communication channel consists of three configurable ALUs, which, with their command set and their infrastructure, can execute the most varied field bus and Real-Time systems. The netX is available in various performance classes and with different peripheral functions laid out on the individual application fields. The netX 50, inserted in the netIC is a communication interface with two channels, IO link Gateway, IOs as well as protocol stack and is specially suitable for smaller applications.
Hilscher also offers the corresponding evaluation board for development and simulation of a real application for the netIC.
