Agilent Technologies' IC-CAP Device Modeling and Extraction Software Now Supports Microsoft Windows and UNIX

Accurate and Flexible Device Modeling Reduces Design Cycles, Manufacturing Costs

PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 13, 2002 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of Integrated Circuit Characterization and Analysis Program (IC-CAP) Release 2002, which now supports both Microsoft Windows® and UNIX®. The flexible IC-CAP modeling toolset enables modeling engineers, device designers and fabrication process engineers to develop highly accurate models, reducing the number of design cycles, the cost of manufacturing and time to market.

IC-CAP Release 2002 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows NT® 4.0 platforms, and also runs on UNIX-based operating systems such as the HP-UX 10.2, HP-UX 11.0, Sun(TM) OS 5.7 and 5.8.

The IC-CAP software environment offers a flexible software platform for data management, graphical user interface, data display and custom programming with IC-CAP parameter extraction language (PEL). IC-CAP includes several internal simulation engines, as well as links to external simulators such as the Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) and other commercially available simulators.

"IC-CAP addresses many of the challenges faced by today's modeling engineers and builds on a very powerful and flexible platform that provides accuracy, efficiency, ease of use, and the power to develop custom models," said Jim Tabuchi, Agilent EEsof EDA marketing manager.

Features of IC-CAP Release 2002 include:
o support of IC-CAP software on Windows operating systems;
o open and flexible software environment and extraction methodologies;
o complete DC to RF extraction routines for state-of-the-art industry standard models;
o Agilent-developed nonlinear high-frequency models;
o easy-to-use window-style user interface;
o large data-handling capability;
o open interface to variety of instruments and simulators; and
o fast links to Agilent ADS frequency domain simulators.

Drivers are available for many Agilent and non-Agilent test and measurement instruments, and IC-CAP's open driver interface allows engineers to develop their own drivers. The software also offers turnkey parameter extraction modules for many industry standard models that are ready to use and open to user modification for improved accuracy.
