IBC2013: Vizrt to Resell Quantum's StorNext® Solutions; Ideal for Managing, Storing and Preserving Digital Content

At the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) - being held from September 13-17 in the RAI convention center in Amsterdam - Vizrt announced its new Reseller Agreement with Quantum, the premier storage solutions provider for the media and entertainment industry. Vizrt will be in Hall 7, Stand A10 at the show.

“While we’ve a long history of integrating Quantum storage products in our media asset management (MAM) solutions, we are taking our relationship with Quantum to the next level by becoming a reseller,” said François Laborie, Vizrt’s Chief Commercial Officer. “This follows our strategy to deliver the best total package around our MAM platform. Our experience shows that the Viz Media Engine, tightly combined with Quantum’s clustered file system, simply offers the best performances available in the market.”

As Vizrt customers - such as CNN, CBS, Fox, BBC, BSkyB, Star TV, and Al Jazeera - create and render graphics and video assets for their round-the-clock media operations, the scope of the content they need to store, access, and share grows exponentially. Since Quantum storage solutions are purpose-built to cost-effectively manage, store, and preserve big data in collaborative production environments, they are ideal for Vizrt Video products, such as the Viz Media Engine and it’s media management and file-based delivery workflows.

“Vizrt and Quantum share a common vision of offering the best solutions to the media and entertainment market, and we’re excited about our expanded relationship,” said Ewan Johnson, area vice president for EMEA big data at Quantum. “As a leading provider of graphics and media asset management solutions, Vizrt’s products are highly regarded in the industry. With innovative systems based on StorNext appliances, we look forward to providing the storage foundation for our mutual customers to get even more benefit from their investment in Vizrt’s products.”

Quantum’s flagship StorNext® product line, including StorNext® software and StorNext® appliances, manages media assets throughout their lifecycle, allowing data that’s currently in demand to reside on high-performance disk-based storage where it can be quickly searched, accessed, and shared. As demand for certain assets declines, StorNext automatically moves those files - up to petabytes of data - to less expensive archival storage, such StorNext AEL Archives, where they continue to be visible and accessible when needed.

“Vizrt recognizes that rock-solid reliability, accessibility and scalable capacity are critical to 24-hour broadcast operations” said Laborie “With their unique video I/O and format requirements, the need to share large bitrate media files and rapidly expanding archives, our broadcast customers need to Be Certain their valuable media assets will be readily available so they can leverage today and in the future.”

The company will highlight several key areas in its technology development at the upcoming IBC convention, including a new graphics workflow, non-conform video workflow, live sports interactivity, social TV integration, 4K rendering and IP streaming solutions.
