I/O System facilitates small machine control.

Press Release Summary:

With modular Advantys(TM) OTB Distributed I/O System, users can create I/O islands managed by master controller, via fieldbus or communication network. System includes 3 communication bases for various types of fieldbus, CANopen, Ethernet TCP/IP, or Modbus® RS485 serial line. At width of 55 mm, each communication base includes 20 I/O, totaling 12-24 Vdc inputs, 6 relay outputs, and 2-24 Vdc solid-state outputs. Modules enable up to 132 digital I/O and 48 analog I/O channels.

Advantys(TM) OTB Distributed Input/Output System Offers Optimized Solution for Simple, Compact Machines

PALATINE, Ill. - JANUARY 11, 2006 - The new open and modular Advantys(TM) OTB distributed input/output system offers an ideal solution for IP20 optimized-type distributed I/O requirements. Designed for simple and compact machines, it provides the right technical and economical balance among size, cost and ease of installation.

With Advantys OTB, users can create I/O islands managed by a master controller, via a fieldbus or communication network. "With its expandable block-type architecture, the Advantys OTB is ideally suited for small- and medium-sized islands of distributed I/O," said Tim Roberts, Staff Product Specialist for Schneider Electric. "Consequently, they can be placed closer to the sensors and actuators they control, reducing wiring time and costs."

The Advantys OTB platform is designed to be as simple to use as possible. It includes three communication bases for the various types of fieldbus, CANopen, Ethernet TCP/IP or Modbus® RS 485 serial line. At a width of only 55 mm, each communication base includes 20 I/O, totaling 12 to 24 VDC inputs, six relay outputs and two to 24 VDC solid-state outputs.

Advantys OTB utilizes the popular Telemecanique® Twido® nano controller platform and can be fitted with most of the expansion I/O modules in the Twido offering. Use Advantys OTB with Twido or the Modicon® TSX Micro(TM) to provide a flexible and economical solution that is optimized for small machine control.

With its range of I/O expansions, the Advantys OTB provides modularity, allowing all requirements to be fitted with up to seven digital or analog I/O modules. The expansion and interface modules simply clip on to 35 mm symmetrical rail and enable configurations of up to 132 digital I/O and up to 48 analog I/O channels, or a mixture of both.
