I/O Modules integrate with XMP motion controls.

Press Release Summary:

SLICE I/O line offers over 60 digital and analog I/O configurations and provides a single controller solution for all I/O and motion control requirements. Position latching and on-the-fly registration are enabled by close coupling of data. DIN-rail-mountable modules work with any XMP motion platform equipped with CANOpen master interface DS401 v2.0 node support or better. Each CANOpen node handles up to 64 digital inputs, 64 digital outputs, 8 analog inputs, and 8 outputs.

SLICE I/O Integrates With MEI¹s XMP Motion Control Family

Santa Barbara, CA - 15 January, 2004 - Motion Engineering, Inc. (MEI) today announced the introduction of a new family of networked I/O products for the company's XMP motion controllers equipped with the CANOpen master interface. MEI's SLICE I/O product line includes over 60 different digital and analog I/O configurations, and provides machine builders a single controller solution for all I/O and motion control requirements.

"Our customers told us very clearly they wanted to reduce cost and complexity with a single controller to handle all motion control and input/output functions," noted Phil Strong, CEO of Motion Engineering. "We are committed to offering our OEM customers more choices in their motion architecture, and expanding our product line to include machine I/O is a key part of that strategy."

Integrating the I/O function on a high performance motion controller reduces cost and complexity in wiring, programming, and troubleshooting. Advanced servo control features such as position latching and accurate on-the-fly registration are also enabled by the close coupling of data.

MEI's SLICE I/O products work with any XMP motion platform equipped with CANOpen master interface DS401 version 2.0 node support or better. Individual modules are DIN rail mountable, and can easily be changed in the field. Each CANOpen node can handle up to 64 digital inputs, 64 digital outputs, as well as 8 analog inputs and 8 outputs. All programming is under a single API, and is supported by MEI's extensive library of I/O configuration software, including VM3, MotionConsole and MotionScope.

SLICE I/O products are available for immediate order and 60 day delivery. Additional interfaces are in development, including a version for the SynqNet digital motion network.
