I/O Modules can be configured as Modbus or ASCII slaves.

Press Release Summary:

I/O Pak(TM) K-Series Modules are 1,000 Hz, 19-bit analog measurement devices. Three types are offered with 1 to 32 channel configurations. All models operate on 10 to 30 Vdc and transmit information over RS-485 interface. I/O configuration files may be stored (on PC), retrieved and downloaded. Linearized, scaled, and formatted data is transmitted to host or network master using standard protocols, over 2-wire RS-485 serial or 100baseT Ethernet networks, over distances of up to 3 km.

Eurotherm's Action Instruments Introduces New I/O Pak(TM) K-Series High-Speed, Multi-Function I/O Modules

Invensys company offers proven solution for industrial data acquisition and control customers requiring accuracy and high speeds

SAN DIEGO, CA, SEPTEMBER 23, 2002 - Eurotherm's Action Instruments announces immediate availability of the I/O Pak(TM) K-Series High-Speed Modules. The 1000Hz, 19-bit analog measurement devices can be configured as Modbus or ASCII protocol slaves. There are three different model types in the series. The first is the KA1 group. These units are available in either a 1, 4 or 8 channel configuration, with universal analog inputs and one digital input and one digital output for each analog channel. The KA4 group consists of either a 4 or 16 channel unit with thermocouple or voltage inputs. The KA4 group also has one digital input and one digital output associated with each analog input. The KD1 group consists of either an 8 or 32 channel, multipurpose digital input unit for status, counter or frequency measurement applications. All of the models operate on 10 to 30VDC and transmit their information over an RS-485 interface.

The I/O Pak K-Series of intelligent, distributed I/O modules is the ideal solution for industrial data acquisition and control applications that require accurate and/or fast measurement of process conditions. Single- and multi-channel modules may be installed as closely as possible to the point of measurement to ensure maximum signal integrity. I/O configuration files may be stored (on a PC), retrieved and downloaded greatly reducing the changeover time between tests. Linearized, scaled, and formatted data is transmitted to a host or network "master" using a variety of standard protocols over simple 2-wire RS-485 serial or 100baseT Ethernet networks over distances of up to 3 km.

In conjunction with the optional EGATE-01 Data Concentrator, the I/O Pak K-Series supports an Ethernet interface and can reach throughputs of 100,000 samples per second on a 12 Mbps Profibus network. The EGATE-01 will also provide web server functions as well as accepting and executing standard IEC 61131 "soft PLC" control programs (this function will be available first quarter 2003).

The I/O Pak K-Series is supported by optional configuration and data acquisition software packages. Pricing starts at $27.50/channel for digital units and $78/channel for analog units.
