I/O Bus Controller features Ethernet cabling.

Press Release Summary:

EX484 consists of EX481 with integrated 4X hub. Tree or star network topologies can be implemented in accordance with Fast Ethernet standard on which ETHERNET Powerlink is based. Cabling between individual Powerlink stations occurs using Cat 5 cables, which allows maximum distance of 100 m between 2 nodes. EX484 supports all standard I/O modules for System 2003.

Original Press Release:

Ethernet Cabling in its Simplest Form

The Fast Ethernet standard is designed for star or tree network formations. With the new EX484, this can now be achieved without having to use additional hardware.

The new I/O bus controller EX484 for the B&R System 2003 is an EX481 with an integrated 4X hub. This makes it especially suitable for optimized structuring of complex ETHERNET Powerlink networks.

Tree or star network topologies can be implemented in accordance with the Fast Ethernet standard on which ETHERNET Powerlink is based. Cabling between individual ETHERNET Powerlink stations occurs using Cat. 5 cables which allows a maximum distance of 100 meters between two nodes.

As an I/O bus controller, the EX484 supports all standard I/O modules for the B&R System 2003.

With the EX484, one more product has been opened up to reach the potential of ETHERNET Powerlink technology - communication in real-time.
