4-Port Universal Serial I/O and SYNC Interface for UEI's PowerDNA Cube

Canton, MA (October 2, 2006) - United Electronic Industries (UEI) announces the release of the DNA-SL-501, serial I/O layer/board. The new board offers 4 fully independent, isolated RS-232, 422 or 485 ports with maximum data transfer rates up to 1 megabit per second in RS-422/485 mode. Ports are fully configured with software and different ports may have different configurations.

The company also announced today the release of the new hardware Synchronization interface for the PowerDNA cube. The new interface allows DAQ applications to be initiated by, or clocked by user supplied digital signals. The new interface also allows multiple Cubes to be synchronized with each other.

"The PowerDNA Cube has been very popular in a wide variety of DAQ applications. Many of these applications also have the need to interface to external serial instruments and equipment. The new SL-501 greatly simplifies this interface and is ideal for serial server applications" according to UEI President Shaun Miller, " Also, the addition of this new sync interface will allow the PowerDNA cube to address many new timing critical applications."

About the PowerDNA Cube
PowerDNA (Distributed Networked Automation)-is a compact (4 x 4 x 4" or 4 x 4 x 6") Ethernet based data acquisition and control device. Each PowerDNA Cube consists of a core module (that holds the processor and network interface) along with three or six open I/O slots or layers. Users configure their system by selecting appropriate I/O boards from UEI's extensive offering of analog input (with resolutions of 16, 18 or 24 bits, inputs to 100V or 0-20 mA), analog output (to 40V), digital input/output, counter/timer, CAN bus interface, multi-port RS-485 and RS-232, and power conversion.
