Hypertherm Highlights Integrated Cutting Solutions; Launches High-Amp Air Plasma and Previews Industry's First Long-Handled Torch at FABTECH 2013

HANOVER, N.H. — Hypertherm, a U.S. based manufacturer of advanced plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting systems, will highlight its Built for Business Integrated Cutting Solutions platform at FABTECH 2013. Booth visitors will get a chance to meet with Hypertherm's cutting experts, see live cutting demonstrations, view cut samples, and discuss the pros and cons of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting so they can choose the cutting method that's right for their particular application.

In addition, Hypertherm will introduce a new high-amperage Powermax air plasma and gouging system and display new Duramax brand torches, including the industry's first long-handled plasma torch designed for cutting skeletons, scrapping, dismantling and other similar jobs. The company will also demonstrate the newest enhancements to its lineup of CNCs, torch height controls, and ProNest CAM software.

"Our goal is to provide show visitors with the information they need to confidently decide how to best address their cutting needs," said Reese Madden, director of North American marketing for Hypertherm. "We do this by providing in-booth consultations and educational sessions, and highlighting new technologies which may help visitors discover new and better ways of solving their cutting challenges."

Hypertherm will host 15 educational sessions in its in-booth Innovation Theater. These sessions will cover a range of cutting technologies and topics such as hole cutting, bevel cutting, consumable optimization and more. Hypertherm experts will present a number of presentations as part of FABTECH's official educational program. Those presentations include a process comparison between plasma and laser cutting, practical guidance for cutting beveled edges, and the role nesting software plays in streamlining operations. Jim Colt will once again lead a comparative cutting tour on the show floor.

This year's show, at Chicago's McCormick Place, takes place from November 18 to 21. Hypertherm will exhibit from the show's Fabricating hall for the first time ever in booths S951 and S1986. In addition, Hypertherm partners will conduct live demonstrations of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting from more than a dozen booth locations in both the Welding and Fabricating halls.

Hypertherm designs and manufactures advanced cutting products for use in a variety of industries such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive repair. Its product line includes handheld and mechanized plasma systems and consumables, as well as fiber laser and now waterjet products, in addition to CNC motion and height controls and CAM cutting software. Hypertherm systems are trusted for performance and reliability that result in increased productivity and profitability for hundreds of thousands of businesses. The New Hampshire based company's reputation for cutting innovation dates back more than 45 years, to 1968, with Hypertherm's invention of water injection plasma cutting. The associate owned company, consistently named one of the best places to work in America, has more than 1,300 associates along with operations and partner representation worldwide.

WHEN / WHERE

WHO

Integration of Dual Processes to Expand Operating Capabilities

Laser cutting is an excellent choice for thinner (<3/8") materials, oxide free stainless, and applications where tight feature tolerances are required. Plasma affords high productivity, greater thickness capacity, material quality insensitivity, and lower capital costs. A detailed process comparison across a range of material types and thicknesses will be reviewed and the potential benefits of a system utilizing the strengths of the two processes will be discussed.

Innovations in Plasma Cutting

How to Succeed with Plasma Bevel Cutting

This presentation will cover the steps involved in setting up and running a predictable manufacturing process that includes plasma bevel cutting, tools that help enhance the stability of a plasma bevel cutting operation, and advancements that help to make the plasma bevel cutting process a predictable process. The goal is to provide guidance that can be practically applied to solve the biggest challenges manufacturers face. Key focus areas include job setup, part programming, and process management for reliable results.

Comparative Cutting with Tour

Discover how new advancements in plasma plate cutting technology have increased pierce thickness, allowing plasma to replace oxy-fuel in materials to 2" with faster speeds, lower costs, and often better cut quality. Recent improvements that make it possible to "plasma" drill holes in plate to 1" thick with no secondary operations required will also be reviewed.
