Hydrogenics Next Generation HyPM® Fuel Cell Power Modules Tailored to Specific Market Requirements

'Powered for Purpose' Designs Target Backup Power and Mobility Markets

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- Nov 13, 2006 -- Hydrogenics Corporation (TSX:HYG.TO)(NASDAQ:HYGS), a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrogen and fuel cell systems, today announced the release of its next generation HyPM® Fuel Cell Power Modules. These next generation modules, built on HyPM's proven common stack technology platform, are 'powered for purpose' through tailored engineering for specific backup power and mobility power demands. Hydrogenics' 2007 release also introduces the new H2X 200 Series fuel cell stack, bringing Hydrogenics' robust low pressure fuel cell stack design to a lower power range. "One year ago, our stated goal with the HyPM 500 Series release was to move closer to end-users in the backup power and light mobility markets," said Pierre Rivard, Hydrogenics President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our 2006 accomplishments are proof that we have been very successful in this. This success has led to more opportunities to listen to customers and to respond with product developments that ensure we have a HyPM product that is right for them. One need we always hear is the need for reduced cost. That is an area that we have particularly responded to by retaining our common HyPM platform while introducing cost-effective refinements for individual models."

Powered for purpose, the next generation HyPM product family is positioned to continue as the product of choice for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators.

o The HyPM HD model, available in power outputs of 4, 8, 12, 16 and 65 kilowatts, replaces the previous HyPM LP. With the introduction of high durability components and new patent pending control technology, the rugged HyPM HD delivers the durability and reliability demanded by mobility applications, all in a compact form factor that is easily integrated into various vehicle platforms.

o The rack-mountable 'HyPM XR' model, available in power outputs of 4, 8, and 12 kW, uses a new unhumidified stack design allowing a system parts reduction that enhances reliability and drives cost-effectiveness. Further cost reductions of the HyPM XR have been achieved through a 25% reduction in platinum catalyst loading. HyPM XR targets extended run backup power applications.

In addition to introducing the H2X 200 Series stack, this 2007 release also features recently patented and patent pending technologies that are unique to Hydrogenics' HyPM product platform. These include a proprietary technology that allows for unlimited start-stop cycling of the power module, and an advanced diagnostic mode that optimizes preventive maintenance scheduling. As introduced last year for customers needing integrated power conditioning, the HyPM line continues to offer options for common voltage outputs that meet the typical voltage requirements of electric vehicles and DC backup power users.

"For the last four years Hydrogenics has come to the renowned Fuel Cell Seminar with the latest in our HyPM product offering, and each year we have shown significant progress in how our product is progressing to market. This year is no exception. In addition to being very excited about our HyPM system advancements, we are also very excited about the new 'look and feel' being introduced this year, initially with our HyPM HD model."
